The British Ambassador, Linda Cross, visited Guayaquil on 10 and 11 June and during her visit called on the President of the Ecuadorean Olympic Committee, Ec Danilo Carrera.  The main purpose of the visit was to discuss London 2012 when London will be the first city ever to host the Olympic Games three times.  London first hosted the Games in 1908 and then stepped in after World War 1 to host again in 1948.  

London 2012 presents the UK with a unique opportunity to showcase London, the east end and the UK in general.  Many events will be held outside London, eg the sailing down on the south coast.  The Ambassador and Ec Carrera discussed jointly hosting a launch event in the run'up to London 2012, possibly to be held on 27 July 2010, two years exactly before the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games 2012.  Keep watching this website for more London 2012 news.
