How to access personal information (about yourself) held by the UK Police

The Data Protection Act 1998 gives you the right to ask in writing whether there is any personal data that the Metropolitan Police Service (or any other UK Police) holds or has processed about you. This is the right of Subject Access.  Therefore, requests for personal data can only be made via a Subject Access Request under DPA.

There are two subject access request forms available.

a.  Police National Computer Form

This form relates to information that may be held about you on the Police National Computer. This type of check is usually required for visa, work or immigration purposes.

 Form 3019B

b.      If you do not live or have never lived in the London Metropolitan area, please apply to the Police Service that covers the relevant region or area.

The Metropolitan Police do not currently have the facility for completion of forms online.

The postal address for return of completed forms is:

MPS Public Access Office, 20th Floor
Empress State Building, Empress Approach
Lillie Road
London
SW6 1TR

For further and detailed information on how to apply for your personal data, please visit the Metropolitan Police

Remarks:
Please bear in mind that if you need this report for any legal issue in Ecuador, such as for a residence visa application, the police record would need to be legalised (“apostille”) in the UK, by the Legalisation Department of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, otherwise it will not have complete local validity.
